Challenges of determining visual fitness to drive

Summary

This presentation will focus on how visual function impacts on driving ability and safety and the challenges of assessing a patient’s vision for driving. It will include an overview of the visual requirements for driving, the evidence on which they are based and discuss additional vision tests that might assist in the decision making process. The presentation will also include discussion of the different refractive options for driving and the importance of providing clear advice to patients about their ocular conditions and their ability to meet driver licensing standards.
