A Stitch in Time: One Day at a Time…

Summary

We are all familiar with the old adage ‘A stitch in time saves nine’. Making the correct decisions in contact lens prescribing can save much pain and frustration. Furthermore we can avoid time wasting, unscheduled visits, problem solving and unhappy patients.

Daily disposable contact lenses offer the best, safest, most convenient and value for money options in soft contact lens fitting and management. This talk will cover the many aspects of daily disposables in terms of safety, benefits, and the various options available. How to pick the best lens for a patient, what steps we need to take to ensure success and prevent drop outs will be covered. Management of dry eye, ocular surface and allergy will be detailed and backed up by cases. Locking the patient in and preventing the drift towards internet sales will also be covered.

Although daily disposables have now reached a significant percentage of contact lens prescribing in Australia, there is still a way to go and much room for improvement as there are still some fence-sitters. Attending this presentation should convince delegates who are still unsure, that daily disposables are the way to go while improving the success rates of those that already do.

Learning Objectives

Delegates will be able to take away valuable strategies that enhance their success and satisfaction when working with contact lens patients
